I have everything thing I need to make a great cup of coffee using the french press but I dont want to make coffee fifty times in order figure out how to make the best pot. I dont have the experience of making it and I dont want to waste good coffee while trying to figure it out. Anyone have some words of wisdom?

Yes, I do have a bean grinder, lest ye attempt to answer a question with a question. But I remember this one time when I had coffee made from whole beans, and it was the strongest coffee I had (and have) ever tasted. How can I make such a coffee at home with a standard coffee maker?
I recently bought a Breville for $250.00. The pump did not work well for steaming the milk and the espresso was never hot enough. I returned it after a month. I have attempted to buy a Starbucks Point on eBay and keep getting overbid. I want the real thing. Any advice/experience?
